There are times in an actors’ career when they get type-cast into roles and they have to do something – anything – to get out of that pigeon hole they’ve been painted in. Michael Cera’s career has taken that turn and Magic Magic is his drastic plea to get out that corner.
Cera plays Brink, a young man who is a little off the deep end with Juno Temple playing a visiting young woman, Alicia, in Chile who begins to question whether or not she’s mentally stable. Cera’s performance, from what it looks like, is pretty chilling and out of the norm for him as an actor.
The film releases on DVD and Blu-ray on August 6.
