Sigh. Everytime I get genuinely excited about a film – which doesn’t really happen that often (I love film, but never really get hyped) – I always get thrown down a notch. This time it’s with Jeff Wadlow’s sequel, Kick-Ass 2.
Sadly, Universal have announced that Kick-Ass 2 will be getting pushed back from its original June 28th release date to August 16th. Deadline is reporting that the main reasoning behind the change was Universal did not want Kick-Ass 2 to go up against the Channing Tatum action flick White House Down, so with the move to the late summer date the sequel will now go up against the unheard of R-rated comedy The To-Do List and the family film Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. That Percy Jackson film has a chance to be a real sleeper hit though, so Universal’s plan may back fire.
Universal also announced that their buddy cop film R.I.P.D., starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, was going to be undergoing some 3D post-conversion so there is a chance that it could be pushed back from its July 19th release date.
