Who doesn’t love the Griswalds?  Christmas Vacation is one of those films that dysfunctional families watch during the holidays to make their lives seem less hectic.  And you know what, it works.  Everytime you see Clark Griswald trying to put up Christmas lights on the house or attempting to put that gigantic Christmas tree up in the living room, somehow your Christmas traditions don’t seem so trivial anymore.

The year was 1989 and Chase was in the midst of being a comedy god while George H. Bush was busy being president.  Times were good.  Director John Hughes was busy being one of the best comedic directors in Hollywood when he teamed up with Chevy Chase to bring us a timeless Christmas classic such as Christmas Vacation.

Christmas Vacation might not be the the absolute best Christmas film out there, but it’s a staple of households everywhere.  Here’s hoping you don’t get a squirrel stuck in your tree this year!
