Jamie Foxx in talks to play Electro in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man was a pretty good super-hero reboot film even though it didn’t really need to happen.  Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone had amazing on-screen chemistry and the movie explored a villain that we’ve never seen in the Spider-Man films before with Killer Croc.  Towards the end of the first film we had hints that the sequel’s main villain would possibly be Electro, another villain we haven’t seen in a Spider-Man live-action film before.

Now we’ve pretty much got confirmation that Electro will be the main villain in the sequel and that Sony and Marc Webb want Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, Ray) to play the baddie.  Variety is reporting that the deal is nearly done and that Foxx would play Max Dillon, the man who becomes Electro after being struck by lightning.  The character is one of Spider-Man’s original nemesis first appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #9 in 1964.

Jamie Foxx pretty much confirmed the news via his Twitter account tweeting;

Dressed up as Electro for Halloween last night. Costume fits well.

Jamie Foxx is set to star in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino western Django Unchained and next year’s White House Down starring opposite Channing Tatum.
