‘Zero Dark Thirty’ gets first theatrical trailer, looks good

We haven’t heard much from James Cameron’s wife Academy Award winning director Kathryn Bigelow since she took home the Best Director and Best Picture awards three years ago for The Hurt Locker.  Now we know why.   Zero Dark Thirty is the director’s first follow up film since The Hurt Locker and chronicles the U.S. government’s intelligence gathering, tracking, and execution by gunfire of renowned terrorist Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the Trade Center attacks in New York City on September 11, 2001.

Bigelow has already shown that she has an eye for wartime dramas mixed with very intense action sequences, so Zero Dark Thirty should resemble – in some way, shape, or form – The Hurt Locker, but I’m expecting much more drama with less action.  Writer Mark Boal also wrote The Hurt Locker with Bigelow and wrote the screenplay for Zero Dark Thirty as well.  When something’s not broken, you don’t fix it.  Right?

Zero Dark Thirty and Bigelow are expected to be in the thick of things when awards season rolls around early next year, so you can expect talk of this one to ramp up quite a bit before its release on December 19.
