Aronofsky’s ‘Noah’ adds Cain and Abel

It’s no easy task to make a film about the life of the biblical figure Noah and the great flood that washed away the evil of man.  Yet, Darren Aronofsky has undertaken that feat no matter the cost.  He’s assembled an all-star cast that includes Russell Crowe as Noah, Jennifer Connelly as Naameh, and Anthony Hopkins as Methuselah.  Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, and Ray Winstone will also star in the film.  So as you can see, it’s a pretty big affair.

Now word has escaped that Aronofsky plans to include the biblical characters of Cain and Abel, the first descendents of Adam and Eve, in his film.  It’s not known how large of a role the two characters will play in Aronofsky’s Noah, but reports state that the director has tabbed two Icelandic actors, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson and Arnar Dan, to play the parts.

Cain and Abel’s story in the bible happens long before the events of the great flood, where Noah is tasked with building the ark.  As the bible tells it, Cain kills his brother Abel because he is jealous of God’s favor towards Abel.  God then banishes Cain to wander the Earth for 40 years.  It’s an ambitious project Aronofsky has set up, but if anyone can put this all together it’s the Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan director.

Anyone excited for this film?
