Ranking the Women of ‘Game of Thrones’

Posted: April 17, 2012 in Television

By now you have seen HBO’s uber-popular television series Game of Thrones, and if you haven’t I seriously can’t fuck with you, seriously…click that red X in the upper right hand corner.  Ok, good, now that we’ve weeded out the squares, the latest episode of second season of the TV show, titled “What is Dead May Never Die”, really got things going for the second season – which is now three epi’s in.  The episode also introduced a new character (well, new to television watchers…not so new to readers of the books) in Margery Tyrell, the bride and “Queen” to Renly Baratheon, brother to the now deceased King of Westeros Robert Baratheon.  She’s all kinds of elf-looking sexy and that got me to thinking, how would I rank the women on the show (and there are an abundance of boobs to go around!)?

Here’s my breakdown…we’ll go top 5:

5) Gilly – One of Craster’s Wives

While Gilly was just introduced in the show, episode 2 second season, she becomes a central figure in grand scheme of things, and if you’ve read the books you know what I’m talking about.  While I never got the sense in the books that Gilly was overly attractive (hello!  she lives with a dude who has 12 other wives – who also happen to be his daughters, gross! – in the frozen woods…) but the show cast British actress Hannah Murray, and I think they nailed it.

Murray’s biggest work to date was her role in UK teen-drama Skins, in which I’ve heard she was excellent in.  She’s got that hot-yet-not-overly-hot-just-enough-to-make-you-turn-your-head-hot look to her, which is fine by me.  As a potential love interest for Sam Tarly, I believe he’s got to be licking his chops!

4) Shae – Tyrion’s Whore

While Sibel Kikelli is pretty hot, I imagined Shae a bit more…what should I say…sumptuous?  She’s got this hometown girl look to her and I don’t think they really got her casting right.  However, let’s not discount that she looks great naked (oh, did I mention that Kikelli used to be a German porn star?) and that makes up for a lot of errors in casting.  Her accent often gets in the way of the character and at times I really think she’s trying too hard.  Oh well.  You win some you lose some.

I’d post the naked pictures for you…but…you can Google them for yourself.

3) Daenerys Targaryen – Mother of Dragons

Daenerys is one of the show’s main characters yet we don’t get to see much of her in this second season, but when we do oh boy watch out!  Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys on the show is about as good looking as they come and I really think the casting director nailed it!  In the books Daenerys is around 13-14 years old but in the show they obviously had to make her of legal age – damn those laws…kidding…. – so they decided to go with the 20-something Clarke.  She was a virtual unknown before Thrones, but I would say that her character’s name is now world renowned.

2) Cersei Lannister – Queen Regent

Lena Headey is probably the most accomplished actor/actress on Game of Thrones now that old Sean Bean has been killed off, and she’s also one of the most attractive ladies on the show.  You might remember her from the movie 300 or the short lived show Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.  She’s done an abundance of work in the UK and Thrones has squarely cast her in the limelight once again.

1) Margery Tyrell – Queen to Renly Baratheon

Margery Tyrell was introduced in episode 3 this season as Queen to Renly Baratheon, one of the claimants to the throne of Westeros.  We saw her boobs and she even volunteered to play the role of her brother in the bed, seeing how Renly is actually gay.  Either way, she’s at the top of the list.

The actress who plays Margery is Natalie Dormer, who has quite the resume for playing damsels in the high court as she has appeared in films such as Casanova, and most recently played Anne Boelyn in the Showtime television show The Tudors.

What say you readers?  Agree or disagree?
