‘Total Recall’ Remake Gets First Full Trailer

The first full fledged trailer for Len Wiseman’s upcoming Total Recall remake went live yesterday.  The remake stars Colin Farrell as “Doug Quaid” a factory worker living in a future society where two factions – Euromerica and New Shanghai – rule everything.  The two factions are run by a dictator named Vilos Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston).  Quaid, growing tired of the mundain life that he lives, takes a trip to a company called Rekall where he gets memories implanted into his mind.  However, the implant of memories doesn’t go according to plan and Quaid soon discovers that he just might be a secret spy…but he’s not quite sure what side he’s spying for.

The story was written by Mark Bomback (Unstoppable, Race to Witch Mountain, and Live Free or Die Hard) and is based off of the story  by Phillip K. Dick “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale”. The rest of the cast includes Ethan Hawke, Jessica Biel, Kate Beckinsale, Bill Nighy, and John Cho.

I’m not so sure that the original Total Recall with Schwarzenegger needed to be remade, but at least from the first trailer the remake looks promising.

The movie is out on August 3.
