Box Office Numbers – Audiences Go Back To The Future With ’21 Jump Street’

Posted: March 18, 2012 in Movies

This weekend’s box office numbers are signifying the start of the busy movie season with April and May right around the corner.  This weekend’s top 5 movies combined to bring in over $84M.  That will just be a drop in the bucket when it comes to next weekend’s numbers when The Hunger Games will likely bring in over $100M on its own.  This weekend’s top film, the 21 Jump Street re-make, brought in $35M and was actually pretty good.  Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax kept the money flow coming by bringing in nearly $23M and has now brought in more than $150+M in only three weeks.  John Carter continued its terrible money making ploy by only taking in $13.5 and has only made a little over $50M in two weeks on a reported $250M budget.  Ouch!  Project X and A Thousand Words rounded out the top five with $4M and $3.7M respectively.
