Weekend Box Office February 19: ‘Safe House’ Overtakes ‘The Vow’ To Reign Supreme

This past weekend at the cinema wasn’t the most eventful, especially considering that the weekend’s “best” new film was Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

It was a tight race to the number one spot with Safe House finally taking over from The Vow.  Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds only took over from C-tates and Rachel McAdams by $400,000, with $24M compared to $23.6M respectively.  The number three spot belonged to Nic Cage’s terrib…erm…movie Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance with $22M.  The Rock’s film Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and This Means War rounded out the two five with $20M and $17.5M respectively.
