The Amazing Spider-Man Gets A New Trailer, Bad Guy Revealed

Everyone groaned when Sony announced that they would be “rebooting” the Spider-Man franchise after only 4 years since Spider-Man 3 made shit tons of money.  We only groaned because the first two films in that trilogy were simply amazing, no pun intended.  So it was almost laughable to think that Sony could wash away the bad taste of Spider-Man 3 with a Spider-Man movie that takes place largely in Peter Parker’s high school years.  Simply titled The Amazing Spider-Man, Sony is set to right some wrongs the original films left in our memory banks.  The trailer below reveals the movie’s villain “The Lizard” or “Dr. Curt Connors”, who looks pretty amazing in the role.

Starring Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, Lions for Lambs) as “Peter Parker” and Emma Stone (Easy A, The Help, Zombieland) as his love interest “Gwen Stacey”.  The Amazing Spider-Man will revolve closely around Parker’s emotional state after becoming an orphan taken in by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May.  Garfield is becoming a well established actor and this role will likely vault him into A-list status much like it did the same for Tobey Maguire in the early 2000’s.  Stone is already an A-list actress after her roles in Zombieland and Easy A but she’s trying to refine her drama characterization with roles such as The Help and now The Amazing Spider-Man.  Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Rhys Ifhan, and Denis Leary round out a pretty great cast.

This is the second full trailer released for the movie.  The Amazing Spider-Man is out on July 3, 2012.
