HBO’s ‘Luck’ Gets Renewed For Another Season…After One Episode

Posted: February 1, 2012 in Television

HBO has long been the frontrunner for gritty, well-produced television shows leading the way with shows like Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood.  Then there’s the shows of yesterday that HBO led the way with; The Sopranos, Entourage, Hung, Big Love, Deadwood, and Eastbound and Down.  HBO knows how to make TV shows and make them well.

It’s not surprising to find out that HBO went ahead with the greenlight on a second season for their new television show Luck starring Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte.  It only took the ratings from the pilot episode for the show to tell HBO all they needed to know.  The show follows the horse-racing circuit from the horse owners to the jockey’s that ride the horses to the gamblers who wager money on them.  The show’s pilot episode was directed by Michael Mann and was created and produced by Deadwood creator David Milch.

I didn’t see the pilot episode but I plan on watching it here shortly, I can tell you however that HBO has another hit on their hands no matter what the setting is.

Luck airs Sundays at 9pm EST.
