Peter Dinklage – The Only Little Person You Need In Your Life

Posted: January 16, 2012 in Movies

When you think of movie stars you typically picture Brad Pitt, Will Smith, George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Julia Roberts, Emma Stone, Shia Lebouef.  Seldom do you stop to look smaller when it comes to the best actors in Hollywood.  By “look smaller” I mean about approximately 4 feet 5 inches of one Peter Dinklage.  If you watched the 2012 Golden Globes last night you saw Dinklage finally get his due in the form of the Best Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Television Series – Drama award for his role as Tyrion in the HBO series Game of Thrones.  It’s been long over due and he’s finally shining in the spotlight.

The first time I spotted Dinklage on film was as the brash talking children’s book author who got into a fist fight with Buddy the elf in my favorite Christmas movie of all time, Elf.  It may have been a brief encounter with the pint sized package of dynamite but it was all I needed to see to know the man was capable of greatness.  He later resurfaced in both versions of the not-so-funny-funny Death at a Funeral and once again sold me on how good of an actor he could be.  Trust me, after you see the man playing a gay dwarf lover to a big black man, you’ll feel the same way.  He’s made appearances in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and 30 Rock before really coming into greatness with his role as “Tyrion” in the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Playing “Tyrion” really put Dinklage into his own using the character’s snarkiness and edge to really out-act every single other actor (other than the badass Sean Bean) on that television show.  His Golden Globe win just opened everyone’s eyes to brightest star shining in Hollywood right now.  All 4 feet 5 inches of him.
